Wired Research Interests on Beloved and the Golden Triangle

You have been assigned to build a research portfolio in the form of webpage for your final project. The research based webpage will be comprised of 1000 word academic reflection (essay) about one aspect from the novel Beloved and how it connects to any historical/cultural information about The Golden Triangle region in the Nineteenth Century.  


The website must make a significant claim about an aspect of Nineteenth Century life in TheGolden Triangle and how the novel introduced these aspects of society to you. 


Different perspectives of your research should be presented on different pages of the website, accompanying work should be indicated as pages, posts, or hyperlinks in the webpage.

  2. LaCacia and I will be exploring education and literature throughout the 19th century. In the novel beloved education is used in different ways throughout the golden triangle. The idea of education portrays the power through gender, race, and age.

  3. Emily and I are going to look at the psychology of the main characters in Beloved. We are going to research the treatment of the mentally ill in the late 19th century and relate it to the readings. We might also look at how the stereotypical gender roles of the time affected the characters' psychological states.

  4. The murder committed by Sethe is the main focus of the novel beloved by toni morrison. In my paper I will delve into related cases of modern maternal homicide and compare them to that of Margaret garner Sethe's the real life reflection. I will examine differences between the cases in an attempt to show how the times can alter you perception the situation.

In the novel "Beloved", Toni Morrison presents a good example of how ethnicity was the background of the unethical practice of medical care of African Americans, which has created a large setback on he improvement of medical research and advances in health care. Society may have been different today had these practices not occurred.

  6. Toni Morrison illustrates multiple examples of gender inequality through the characters in the novel "Beloved". We are analyzing inequalities in the work force through the differences in job opportunities for black men, job opportunities for black women, and alternatives for youth in the Golden Triangle in the late 1800s.

  7. In the novel Beloved Seethe harms and even kills one of her children in order to save them from being sold into slavery. As an economic major I will be analyzing the cost of run away slaves in the 19th century, what certain physical characteristics were worth and what were the average cost of living for a freed or runaway slave, such as Seethe and her family.
